South Uist Self Catering Accommodation
South Uist, was ruled by the chiefs of Clanranald since the Norse occupation and is strongly associated with Bonnie Prince Charlie (& Flora MacDonald). Throughout the island are various spots, such as Corodale Bay (where he landed on 14th May 1746), which hold an importance in the history of the 1745 Jacobite rebellion and the subsequent flight, to France, of the "Young Pretender" Charles Edward Stuart.
Besides the many important historical sites on South Uist there are a great many sites of importance relating to such things as geology, ornithology and the likes. Overall South Uist has a huge selection of places of interest to visitors but the most obvious is the shear beauty of the place. Like many of the other islands, of the Outer Hebrides, South Uist has amazing beaches and many regard them as the best the islands have to offer but, in truth, it is often incredibly difficult to compare one beach to another (unless one is sandy and the other is not) as virtually all beaches in the Western Isles are spectacular and rather unique, not least for the fact that you often find yourself the only person enjoying the spot.
Self Catering Accommodation on South Uist
Hebridean life is unique and wherever you stay you will enjoy a unique culture in an astounding environment. On closer examination each and every island has it's own subtle differences which you begin to notice the more often you visit. All are incredibly friendly and bed & breakfast is always superb but to get the true feeling of somewhere like South Uist you really have to stay in self catering accommodation to get a true experience of life on the islands of the Outer Hebrides/Western Isles.
Freed from the constraints of hotel/guest house meal times in self catering accommodation you can come and go, eat and drink (and even sleep) whenever you want but staying in such accommodation offers you a glimpse of what it would be like to live here and for this reason we consider it the very best way in which to enjoy South Uist.
