The Isle of Skye is a diverse island providing a varied selection of vacation opportunities ranging from relaxing and peaceful breaks to hill walking and rambling trips and full on mountain climbing trips to the Cuillins (pictured here below). Wherever you go on Skye you can be sure of one thing, that it will be beautiful. There are few islands which feature such diversity in their landscapes. One minute you are on an expanse of open moorland the next driving through awe inspiring mountains and then you arrive at the picturesque, and somewhat colourful, town of Portree (shown to the left and Portree harbour is shown on our main Skye accommodation page).
One word of warning about taking a vacation on the Isle of Skye, always dress accordingly. If you are planning to go walking/rambling please ensure that you are dressed in suitable clothing to protect you from the harshest of weather. Even in the summer the weather can turn extremely quickly and due to the isolated locations of many of the best walks it can prove dangerous. This is, obviously, even more important if you are planning to climb in the Cuillins. Always let somebody know your plans!
