North Uist Self Catering Accommodation
North Uist is a popular vacation destination in the Western Isles of Scotland (also known as the Outer Hebrides). Renowned for it's plentiful flora and flora North Uist is a paradise for the twitcher/bird-watcher/ornathologist and if you are the slightest bit interested in birds then you simply must spend some time visiting the RSPB nature reserve at Balranald. A pleasant stroll along the footpath will take you about two to three hours and, if you are lucky, you will hear a corncrake, one of Europe's endangered birds - it has a rasping like sound. If you are extremely lucky you may even get the chance to see one of the corncrakes but it is both small (especially for the noise it creates!) and rather plain to look at.
If you enjoy exploration then you may also enjoy a trek along the Uist Sculpture Trail which features seven works which were commissioned by Taigh Chearsabhagh Museum and Arts Centre which is also worth a visit (especially if you are visiting during the university's end of year show). Of course there are plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy, such as otter watching, fishing, kayaking and the likes.
