A Hebridean BeachHebridean Guest House accommodation is always of the finest quality and the Hebridean hospitality is world renowned. Your host is dedicated to ensuring that your Hebridean vacation will be a holiday worth remembering. The accommodation itself is always first class, excellently turned out and extremely comfortable. The Hebrides of Scotland has some of the finest scenery in Scotland, and, most probably the whole of the United Kingdom. Staying in a Hebridean guest house is one of the finest ways in which to stay in the Inner or Outer Hebrides (also known as the Western Isles).

The Isle of Skye is the most popular vacation destination in the Inner Hebrides and has a great many unique aspects that make this destination extremely versatile. The vast majority of folk visit Skye to go walking or climbing in the spectacular Cuillins, a very rough range of mountains that dominate the Skye landscape. However there are a great many other sports and pastimes that can be enjoyed on Skye. In many ways it is the unique Hebridean culture which sets this part of the world apart from everywhere else. One way in which you are almost guaranteed to enjoy it is by staying in a Hebridean guest house.

Throughout the Hebrides you will hear the Gaelic language spoken here there and everywhere. It is a deeply poetic language and the accent is very softly spoken. Nearly all folk who speak Gaelic, except for maybe some of the very elderly, also speak perfect English and while it is their second language it is so perfect that you would not think so. If you are staying in a Hebridean guest house and you hear your host speaking to somebody in the Gaelic do not be intimidated as they will swiftly change to English when communicating with yourselves.

Possibly the best place to hear the Gaelic language is in the Outer Hebrides, which are also known as the Western Isles. On the Isle of Lewis, the Isle of Harris, North and South Uist, Barra and some of the smaller islands it is sometimes possible, especially on Sundays, Gaelic singing. If you are staying at a Hebridean guest house and you hear mention of the "Mod" you may wish to enquire more as this is an amazing Gaelic singing competition which is well worth a listen. The Gaelic Psalms are sung totally differently to the traditional songs and they can be extremely powerful, especially at emotional times such as at a funeral.
