Harriet’s House offers self catering accommodation (see photographs below) for up to seven in a fully renovated traditional croft house, with a garden to both front and rear. Situated in Kyles, a small crofting township of on the west coast of North Uist, Harriet’s House is well equipped and has ample parking for your group. The Western Isles are renowned for their excellent beaches so you will be happy to learn that this self catering accommodation is only yards away from an expansive atlantic beach.

The local licenced grocery store (Bayhead Shop), about one mile from the house, sells local meat, vegetables and baking. As well as being the local post office Bayhead Shop also has petrol/diesel pumps (fuel/gas). The main ferry terminal, at Lochmaddy, is just a 12 minute drive away and for an even wider selection of goods and services there is Benbecula which is not too far away.

Although North Uist features many beautiful beaches, numerous trout filled lochs, plenty of moorland, hills with superb natural wildlife habitats you will also find plenty of prehistoric sites (some of international significance) to explore. Also keep in mind that you can also enjoy the many attractions of South Uist (connected via a series of causeways) and a visit to some of the other islands may also be a consideration for some, though you will need to catch a ferry across to Barra or the Isle of Harris.

Facilities At Harriet’s House

Harriet’s House sleeps 7 and features two double bedrooms, a twin bedroom and one single bedroom (duvets, bed linen and towels are supplied). The bathroom has a shower, bath, washhand basin, toilet. The living room features a wood burning stove, Freeview TV with an integral DVD player. The kitchen has an electric cooker, microwave, washing machine and a fridge-freezer. You will also find a traditional pulley for airing and drying clothes as well as an outdoor washing line.
