Isle of Arran Accommodation
The Isle of Arran is a highly popular vacation destination which is classed as being in the Inner Hebrides of Scotland, however, the island is actually the largest island in the Firth of Clyde. It does have to be said that the Isle of Arran has more similarities with the other islands of the Hebrides than the nearby mainland, especially when looking at the cultural aspects (including Norse & Gaelic influences, with Gaelic still spoken widely) but there are also a large number of physical similarities too.
The main industry on the Isle of Arran is tourism and once you have visited the island you will understand why! Like the other islands of the Hebrides, Arran has a rich and diverse flora and fauna with many unique species. The diversity of the island has played a part in it gaining the name 'Scotland in miniature', it even has it's highland and lowland regions!
There are plenty of visitor attractions on the Isle of Arran and it has some rather special sites such as Lochranza Castle (pictured below), Brodick Castle and the wonderful standing stones on Machrie Moor. Although Wikipedia states that the castle at Lochranza was 'the model for the castle in the Tintin adventure The Black Island' this is, in fact, incorrect (the correct castle used was on the Isle of Barra in the Outer Hebrides).
