Enjoy Hebrides
Welcome to Enjoy Hebrides, your new gateway to the Outer Hebrides/Western Isles of Scotland.
Over the next few months we will be adding lots of accommodation including hotels in Stornoway, self catering accommodation on the Isle of Harris and on the Isle of Lewis and bed and breakfast (B&B) accommodation on the Isles of Harris and Lewis. We will also provide links to other accommodation in the Outer Hebrides/Western Isles web sites. The Outer Hebrides are also know as the Western Isles and the Isle of Lewis is joined to the Isle of Harris and the two islands are commonly called the 'Long Island' or the 'Long Isle'. This may appear a little confusing especially when the Outer Hebrides are often referred to as simply 'the Hebrides' (the Inner Hebrides include the Isle of Skye and the surrounding islands).
As you can see, from the photograph above, the Hebridean islands have some of the most wonderful beaches in Europe. What may surprise you is that these beaches are often empty of visitors (especially those not directly accessible from the road) meaning that you and your family can enjoy the Hebridean experience in, almost, total privacy - where else is this possible? These islands have the most astounding scenery you are likely to see in the whole of the United kingdom, from gentle rolling sand dunes to the bold statement of the Harris hills and the Clisham, from the rich golden sands of West Lewis to the rocky coves of the East.
Fishing has always been popular here and the cool clear waters heave with brown trout, Atlantic salmon and other quarry, a true heaven for the angler. Golfers are well catered for too with golf courses in Stornoway, down on Harris and elsewhere, all offer an almost unique experience and breathtaking veiws. Growing in popularity each and every year are a number of other sports with many surfers arriving to compete in the local surfing competitions and lots, and lots of cyclists who enjoy the incredible challenges that cycling in the Hebrides throws up.
If you have found yourself at Enjoy Hebrides looking for information about the Outer Hebrides/Western Isles (from now on just Outer Hebrides) the we apologise for the lack of local area information and suggest that you pay a visit to the popular Virtual Hebrides. We do hope to provide a guide to the Hebrides Isles as soon as possible but the Enjoy Hebrides project only commenced at the beginning of 2008. Enjoy Hebrides is a fully independant organisation dedicated to promoting the islands of the Hebrides. Enjoy Hebrides is based in the Outer Hebrides and, because of this, the central area of development will be focused on the Isle of Harris and the Isle of Lewis but over time we hope to expand to include North and South Uist, the Isle of Skye and most of the other Hebrides Isles. If you are an accommodation supplier in an area not yet covered and wish to be listed as soon as possible then please do not hesitate to contact us and we will see what we can do for you.
Enjoy Hebrides wishes to state clearly that we have no association with Visit Scotland, Visit Hebrides or the Scottish tourist board. We are a self financed organisation that has been formed to create an easy to use experience for both visitors and accommodation providers. Our primary aim is to provide as direct a route to accommodation in the Hebrides as possible at no cost to the consumer and a fair cost to the provider.
If you are in the hospitality industry in the Hebrides contact us to discover how you can be listed on Enjoy Hebrides and it's associated sites.
